When she’s not working, Sally loves to travel, sing, spend time with her husband, family and friends, and eat delicious food. While at Spectrum News, Sally hopes to inspire Southern California through her stories and share plenty of sunshine with her weather forecasts. Sally then moved to Las Vegas, where she worked for 8 News Now as a weather anchor and general assignment reporter for nearly five years. It was at KABC that she learned everything she knows about news and met her mentors.įrom there, Sally joined KIDY Fox News/KXVA Fox 15 in San Angelo and Abilene, Texas, working as an MMJ, weather forecaster and morning anchor. Her dream of being a reporter then took her to KABC Los Angeles, where she worked as a news assistant and later, a traffic producer for the morning show. She studied Media Studies and Spanish at Pitzer College, where she delivered the weather and a news segment for the school’s underground radio station, 88.7FM KSPC. CBS, through a press spokesperson, stated that both had chosen to retire, but neither Martin, nor Greene made any official comment. By this time, Martin and Greene were anchoring the 4 p.m. Media reports speculated that her contract expired on June 1, 2008. On April 1, 2008, she was informed that her contract would not be renewed. While at KCBS, Martin also co-hosted the CBS network special Beyond Belief - Amazing True Stories! with Pat O'Brien, and for a brief period also anchored the female-oriented newscast Women 2 Women alongside former KNBC newscaster Kelly Lange. George Fischbeck joined in late 1994 Jerry Dunphy, who briefly returned to KCBS-TV in 1995 Harold Greene, who succeeded Moyer as Martin's co-anchor, would join in early 2001 Laura Diaz joined in 2002 and Johnny Mountain arrived in 2005. Īfter reporting and anchoring for KIRO for several years, Martin moved to Los Angeles in April 1976 to work for KABC-TV as a reporter. She became the first woman in the Seattle market to solo anchor a newscast when she was promoted to weekend co-anchor. Shortly after graduation, Martin began her broadcasting career at KIRO-TV as a weather-caster for the station's morning newscasts. She attended the nearby University of Washington, where she majored in communications and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1972. ![]() Martin was born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Everett, Washington, where her father, Paul Marmont, worked at the former Everett Western Gear facility.
